Some comments people have said about the tour:

“I knew that this tour would be right up my street, so to speak, taking in Nottinghamshire’s great historic sites and exploring our county’s rich heritage and legendary status along the way and driven in an iconic vintage RouteMaster bus! It’s not every tour that will show you where Will Scarlett is buried and the place where Robin Hood and Maid Marian married – a ‘fact’ which our knowledgeable guide laughingly told us! And that was the order of the day on this tour: amazing knowledge of the areas we passed through provided by our guide, host and bus conductor Andy Gaunt of Mercian Archaeology, mixed with a great degree of humour.” - Visit Nottinghamshire

This truly was a magical mystery tour which just kept getting better…” - Visit Nottinghamshire.

this is something that will be a popular attraction for not just tourists but those of us born and bred in Nottingham. For the latter, we might think that we know it all but in reality what we might know is just the surface, the experts… will blow your mind with all that they know and have to tell you . . . all with a smile and plenty of good cheer!” - Visit Nottinghamshire

“Excellent, informative and entertaining Red Bus Trip round Sherwood Forest today, a great introduction to the historical, social and political influences in our unique and undervalued landscape”.

“”Great to tour around the area with a guide who brings history to life. Cheers Andy”

“thank you for a great day out. Really enjoyed the interesting talks on all the places visited. We are local to many of the sites visited, but learned much more”

“This trip is such good value. A great way to explore Nottinghamshire, this was my fourth trip but each time I see and hear something new.”.(

“Well done to all involved”

“I was on the bus tour yesterday with my 10 year old grand daughter. We had a fantastic day out, made all the better for Andy's in depth knowledge of the area. I have lived in Nottingham for all of my 72 years and didn't know half the information he knew. We really enjoyed it…”

“We had a super time! Can definitely recommend.” - Experience Nottinghamshire via facebook.

"Many thanks for a really enjoyable day. The itinerary was generous with plenty if time to explore four of the most interesting locations in the county. The on-board commentary was entertaining and authoritative. Andy is a mine of information with regard to Sherwood Forest and environs and Peter's skill behind the wheel was complemented by his infectious enthusiasm. Congratulations to Sherwood Forest Tours and Mercian Archaeological Services on an outstanding 'inaugural flight'. I hope there are many more."
